camera strap

I thought I should be a little more fashionable as I’m out and about taking pictures. This was one of those super-easy projects that I could in an hour.

homemade jam

Monday, August 10, 2009

I was so proud that we made raspberry jam from our own raspberry patch. The process was pretty simple, so we ran to the store and bought cherries to make cherry jam too.  And then to make it extra special, Ethan made homemade bread to enjoy the fruit of our labor.

harvest time

Thursday, August 6, 2009

We started to pick our veggies!  Ethan does a tremendous job with our garden... I can’t take any credit for what we reap out there. It is exciting and so satisfying to prepare a meal from our own yard. Here’s just a few pictures of what’s growing.

CHIC 2009

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Every three years the Evangelical Covenant Church hosts a week long youth conference at the University of Tennessee, called CHIC (Covenant High In Christ - a name that’s stuck since the 1950’s) where over 5000 high school students attend. Ethan has worked on the past 3 CHIC’s as the production designer for the main stage show. My brother, Paul, is the producer of the event. So, with connections to both of them, I get invited to come along as a volunteer.

I found this embroidery design online that I thought was so pretty, I had to make it. I wish I could find the link... I remember reading that the design is a mix between Scandinavian and Mexican art styles. Instead of the the wood frame I’m currently using, I would rather frame it in an old vintage metal hoop... anyone have one they want to donate?

pirate cupcakes

Monday, June 22, 2009

For the annual Heart Sister picnic, I made cupcakes decorated like happy little pirates. They were a hit with the kids, but the red icing... not so much with the parents (it kinda got everywhere). Do you know how much dye it takes to make red icing!?!  For awhile I was considering giving up, and just making girly pirates with pink bandanas.

sparkly birthday banner

Monday, June 15, 2009

While Ethan was cutting the grass the night before his birthday, I secretly made this banner for him. The red fabric is a glitter vinyl used on boats (I only wish I had all the colors!). The picture with Grant best shows the sparkly look.

sewing vs. soren

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Sewing has taken the back seat these last few weeks. My sister is in town with her family, and I am trying to soak up as much time as possible with them.
