christmas stockings

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

The stockings are finally done! I started working on our Christmas stockings last year, and I didn’t quite finish them in time. But they are now complete with flannel lining, a few more embellishments, and sparkly embroidery.

christmas challenge

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

I’m apart of a Facebook Group called “Sew & Tell” and we all share pictures of our craft projects. I proposed a Christmas Challenge to the members: you have to make something Christmasy that is no larger than 5 inches; you can’t spend money (you can only use supplies that you already have); and you have to include a button.

Here’s is what I made... Gift Tags for presents. I ran paper through the sewing machine for the stitching around the edges, and then sewed on a button to anchor the ribbon.

pencil roll

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

What a great way to use skinny scraps of fabric!  I’ve seen pictures of pencil rolls on other blogs and thought it was about time I tried to make one.

quiltology visit

Monday, December 1, 2008

My family celebrated Thanksgiving at my brother’s house in Chicago, and we had a great time sharing in all the cooking. On Saturday, my sisters and I snuck away to a fabric shop, and it was all I hoped it would be.

cape for savannah

Sunday, November 23, 2008

I made my second cape for a little girl named, Savannah. It will be her 4th Birthday in a few weeks, and I’m hoping her cousin Grant will give her flying lessons and instructions for re-charging her cape.

oreo ice cream cake

Monday, November 10, 2008

We celebrated Grant’s 4th Birthday tonight. I had the great honor of making his birthday cake... and at his request, an ice cream cake. I had never made one before, but I gotta say, the layers looked real pretty when we sliced into it.

One of my best friends since childhood, Krissy, just had her third baby girl. Phoebe arrived a month early, so we’re thankful she is healthy and doing well. Not too much to say about the blanket... other than I’m glad I just happened to finish it on the eve of her Birth-day!

trick or treat

Friday, October 31, 2008

I got home from work late, and realized we had not carved our pumpkins yet... and the trick-or-treaters had already started coming. So, good thing I married a man who has every possible tool in his workshop. Right as we started, Ethan whipped out a RotoZip (ya, I never heard of that before either) and he carved our pumpkins ever-so finely with his tool. It took about 5 minutes to carve 2 pumpkins!
