baby linnea

Sunday, August 7, 2011

One of my college roommates just had a baby girl this summer. Her name is Linnea, and that’s a favorite Swedish name in our family too! I’m loving two things about quilts these days: the pinwheel pattern, and going back to Minke for the backside. And for this quilt, I only wanted to use one contrasting fabric... I chose a 1930’s reproduction fabric.

dear photograph

Friday, July 29, 2011

Have you heard about  I tried it out... taking an old photograph, going back to it’s location and lining up all the corners. That’s our old dog Ginger with my brother and sister.  Then that’s my sister and I ready to go to Camp Kirkwood. And the last one is a classic family Christmas picture... maybe I should send this one to (here’s the closeup picture. We love you, Linnea!).

Here is a bit of a catchup. We celebrated Jackson’s first birthday, and that boy is getting cuter and cuter. He’s not walking yet, but he’s made a few adorable attempts.

I went to New York City to visit my sister, Sarah. It was an awesome weekend with some crafty-shopping at Purl Soho and Mood Fabrics. I loved 4 whole days (by myself!) to share with Sarah.

Our dear friends are back in the states from Africa, and we’ve enjoyed spending time with them.  Their kids are so great with Jackson, and its fun to watch him loving the attention.

coffee cozy

Monday, June 27, 2011

I made this coffee cozy for my sister... and she’s got a much better idea for it’s use. In the hot summer, she uses it around cold drinks to collect all the condensation. Brilliant, Sarah!

ronald mcDonald #2

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Here is my second quilt for the Ronald McDonald House. I hope the young boy who receives this blanket will feel a little bit of extra love when he arrives. I realize I’ll never meet him or know his name, but I’ll pray for his full healing while he and his family are away from home.

t-shirt bib

Saturday, April 30, 2011

I saw this idea to make bibs from old t-shirts. Marvelous. What a great idea for all those college t-shirts I have boxed up and stored away. Or, another use for all those uniform shirts my husband is issued every year.

jordan and emilia

My friend Margie had twins a few months ago, and it was so fun to make these quilts for her girls. I liked the challenge of designing two quilts that compliment each other without being identical. I found this pretty fabric with lots of flowers and butterflies that will be darling for Margie’s girls. And the backside is lined with a light green fuzzy fabric.

baby jude

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Baby Jude means blanket number four for this family! My sweet friend Calley has watched my progression of quilting through all of her kids. I apologized to her that the quilts are getting smaller, but she was kind enough to assure me that they are getting better and more intricate. Calley, I’d be happy to keep on sewing blankets for you :)

leonardo the lion

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Jackson can make a few animal sounds now and in honor of his roar, I made him a lion. I like that this stuffed animal looks like it came from the 70‘s. I bought this pattern over here and I was excited to have a project that I could do in one night with materials I already had.

baby lydia

Friday, March 11, 2011

I’m pretty sure if I have a baby girl someday, I would pick out these fabrics for her quilt. I love the color orange, and I love little flower prints... and I thought that my friend Beth would too. So, for her baby girl, Lydia, I made this spring colored quilt. I got to see Lydia wrapped up in it today, and she looked so adorable.
