eden’s pillow

Saturday, March 1, 2008

I wanted to try quilt-art. This was originally supposed to be on a card for my friend, Sharon, but it kept getting bigger. I didn’t know what to do with it... should I frame it? make it into a hand bag? a cover for a photo album? a pillow...? pillow it is!

baby soren

Monday, February 13, 2008

At five weeks old, Soren finally got to meet his aunts and uncles from the Midwest. We had a terrific weekend, and I can’t wait for him to come out here in July for the annual houseboat trip to Lake Cumberland (how early is too early to start water skiing?).

merry christmas stockings

Monday, December 24, 2007

It was wishful thinking to believe I could finish our christmas stockings on Christmas Eve. Santa managed to fill them up, even though they were held together by safety pins... maybe I’ll finish for next year?

our first christmas tree

December 15, 2007

We bought two Christmas trees this year: one for inside the house, and one to plant outside. I like to consider the outdoor evergreen as our first official Christmas tree. The inside tree brought upon one of our first arguments as a married couple: colored vs. white lights.

be our guest

November 11, 2007

One of the personal touches from our wedding was homemade cookies (okay, but not by me) for all our out-of-town guests. We stacked cookies inside a mason jar, tied with a little note, and had the jars waiting for our friends & family at the hotel check-in.

crewel pillow

January 4, 2007

I love love love embroidery, so this was the pillow I tackled last Christmas season. When I finished, I noticed crewel all around my parent’s house from projects my mom had made years ago.

christmas aprons

December 27, 2006

I like to find clever ways to reuse things for a different purpose. I had these cute Christmas pillow cases that I cut up and sewed it back together to make these little aprons.

wilton cake decorating

November 9, 2006

I’ve always wanted to take a cake decorating class, so when I was talking about it with Ethan, he offered to take the class with me. He said, “I like cake, and I wouldn’t mind learning how to decorate too.”  So, we attended a four week Wilton class, and learned the basic skills. Grant’s 2nd Birthday cake was our prized final cake.

baby corinne

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

Ethan built me an amazing craft table in the basement. This was the first blanket I sewed using the table (12/07) and it made a huge difference to spread out (and to leave everything out over night!). Hmm... kinda makes me miss the coffee table in my old tiny apartment... naah.
